Your chance to help continue growing Gladstone’s Sister City relationship
Gladstone Regional Council is seeking Expressions of Interest to join the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee in 2022.
The purpose of the committee is to provide Council with strategic advice and support on ways and means to enhance the sister city relationship and program.
Gladstone’s relationship with Japan’s Saiki City was originally established in 1996 and on 20 October 1997, the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee was formed by resolution of Gladstone City Council.
Gladstone Region Councillor and Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee member Desley O’Grady said the committee actively undertakes the facilitation and organisation of cultural, social, recreational and other exchanges and activities.
“The objective of these activities is to nurture and grow our sister city relationship, while celebrating diversity within the Gladstone Region and creating a more connected community,” Councillor O’Grady said.
“The Committee consists of voting members and non-voting members and meets 10 times a year.
“To express your interest in membership to the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee, please complete the nomination form on Council’s website and submit before close of business on Friday 8 October.”
Membership is determined by Council resolution.
Meetings are held monthly except for December and January.
Please visit www.gladstone.qld.gov.au/sister-city-program for more information and to access a nomination form.
Expressions of Interest close on Friday 8 October.
