Nominations sought for long standing Our Priceless Past initiative
Preparations are underway for the 2021 local oral history project Our Priceless Past, and the GRAGM is calling on the community to nominate special seniors to participate.
Participating nominees, aged 70 years or over who have lived in the area for 30 years or more, will be interviewed by students from Toolooa State High School.
“Selected students from Toolooa State High School will be stepping into their journalism shoes during September and capturing the priceless history in the eyes of some of the Gladstone Region's long-standing residents," Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said.
“Local filmmakers will add a new dimension to the 2021 project to develop a series of short films in conjunction with the popular project.”
Our Priceless Past was initiated in 1999 to celebrate the International Year of the Older Person and to date the stories of 300 seniors have been told through the words of 484 participating students.
If you would like to nominate a special senior, please email gragm@gladstone.qld.gov.au or phone 4976 6766. Nominations close on 30 July.
GRAGM is open 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, located on the corner of Goondoon and Bramston Streets, and admission is free.
