A wildfire event in 2020 impacted Benaraby Landfill and a site assessment was undertaken to provide recommendations for bushfire mitigation action.
Risks were identified with no standpipe on-site and with mains water trickle feed to the landfill.
During the wildfire event emergency service vehicles had to travel to Benaraby to refill during the wildfire.
This project will install two fire water tanks on-site to meet legislative requirements and provide a source of water for emergency services during a wildfire event.
This will assist with response time during fire emergencies, reducing potential risk to the facility and community.
If visiting Benaraby Landfill you may notice increased work activity occurring. Please be mindful of works occurring and follow any signs or directions.
