Provides legal information, advice, referrals and representation to financially and socially disadvantaged Queenslanders in the areas of civil, criminal and family law. Legal Aid Queensland’s information and referral services are free. Our legal representation service is subject to means, merits and guidelines tests. We focus on giving legal advice to people who are financially or socially disadvantaged and have no access to private legal advice or representation.

Legal Aid Queensland’s Youth Legal Aid Team: A specialist legal advice team based in Brisbane that provides legal information, advice, assistance and representation for young people under 18 years of age regarding criminal law matters (as long as the offence occurred when client was less than 17 years old). Youth Legal Aid can provide advice to suspects on whether to participate in a police interview, police cautions, youth justice conferences and appearing in court for criminal charges. Youth Legal Aid provides advice to the client only, this program does not provide advice to parents by themselves, third parties or witnesses.
