The Gladstone Auto Club Inc. was established in 1966 with a focus on a variety of motor sports activities. The Club gradually transitioned to provide for the promotion and delivery of high quality speedway events in the Gladstone Region. These events were held at the Gladstone Showgrounds until a decision was made to establish a new track and facilities in a more appropriate environment whereby noise, dust and traffic would not be an issue.
With the strong support of the Gladstone Regional Council, the Gladstone Auto Club Inc. were provided with a lease within the Benaraby Motor Sportz Complex which already hosts the Benaraby Raceway (drag strip), Gladstone District Dirt Riders (motocross) and the Gladstone Four Wheel Drive Club. The Gladstone Auto Club is working toward the development of its new track.
The Club has active members who participate in speedway meetings throughout Queensland and Australia. The Club also runs community events such as the Walz Group Motor Show held at the Calliope Historical Village. This Motor Show provides an important source of fundraising, increases the profile of the Club in the community while providing a family activity for the community.
Gladstone Auto Club has a strong focus on its junior members from driver skills development through to promotion of driver training initiatives and aims to deliver youth driver program opportunities when the new track is complete.
We are a non profit organisation with all members working as volunteers for the development of this track to secure a future for speedway in the Gladstone Region.
Monthly meetings are held 1st Monday of month at 6pm, please email the Secretary at admin@gladstonespeedway.com.au for confirmation of venue or contact via Facebook.
