New footpaths to link to existing bus stops will be constructed along a section of Shaw St, New Auckland, from 17 July.
This work is part of a project, included in Council’s 2024/25 Capital Works program to deliver various footpaths in the Gladstone Region to improve footpath connectivity to Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) Compliant bus stops.
This project supports Council’s commitment to improve footpath connectivity and provide a safe and dedicated pathway to link the current footpath network to urban area bus stops.
Work will involve construction of new kerb and concrete footpaths along both sides of Shaw Street (from existing bus shelters east towards Beak Street). - Commencing

Works will include:
- Site preparation works and minor earthworks
- Construction/installation of new kerb and footpaths
- Installation of signage

- Works between Monday and Friday, 6am-6pm.
- Operation of machinery, noise, vibration and dust can be expected from the project site.
- Disruption to some nearby property driveways.
- At times, some traffic disruptions and changed road conditions.
- Traffic management at times.
- Pedestrian disruptions.
