Council backs gas injection facility set to be built in Gladstone
Gladstone Regional Council (GRC) has welcomed the State Government’s announcement that a $4.2 million gas injection facility will be built in Gladstone.
The Gladstone facility will be the first of its kind in the country to be on a blend of natural gas and hydrogen.
Energy company Australian Gas Networks (AGN), part of the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) will trial the blended hydrogen gas to deliver 10 per cent renewable hydrogen into the gas network with a view to converting Gladstone’s network to hydrogen in the future.
GRC is pleased Central Queensland University (CQU) has formed a partnership with AGN in order to provide access to the blending facility for CQU staff and students.
Council would like to thank the State Government for showing its faith in both the people and highly skilled workforce of the Gladstone Region.
