Sport and Recreation
Gladstone Regional Council is committed to working with sporting clubs and active recreation groups to build a community of healthy and active residents with access to quality facilities and activities run by skilled and capable people.
There are more than 200 clubs and sporting organisations in the Gladstone Region. Popular sports include netball, touch football, basketball, golf, hockey, Australian rules football, rugby union, rugby league, soccer, tennis, squash, lawn bowls, athletics, cricket, shooting, surf lifesaving, swimming, sailing, motorsports and gymnastics.
The region has five golf courses, an extensive multipurpose sports facility, an Olympic-size swimming pool, the Benaraby Motorsports complex, over 25 multi-sport ovals and quality facilities for tennis, netball, hockey and squash.
As the gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, the Gladstone Region is also home to the beautiful beaches at Agnes Water, Tannum Sands and nearby Heron Island, Lady Musgrave Island, North West Island, Curtis Island, Facing Island, and Wilson Island.
