Business
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are being sought for an Incorporated organisation from the Gladstone Local Government Area to provide business (and community) grants writer services.
Background:
Following community input, as part of the COVID-19 community response by both Shell’s QGC business and Gladstone Regional Council (GRC), and following local input, it has been determined a grants writer can assist both not for profit community groups and small to medium businesses in the Gladstone Region to identify funding opportunities and successfully apply for grants monies.
Grants funding not only benefits the recipient organisation but the broader community including via improved range and sustainability of facilities and services; and local spend to realise projects.
Objectives:
The objective of funding a grants writing program is to assist both not-for-profit organisations and small to medium businesses in the Gladstone Region to successfully apply for funding grants, including government and private sector offerings. Grants monies are then used to support these organisations and their projects which, in turn, benefits the broader community. Grants writer support has emerged as increasingly important given the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the profitability of local businesses and both the fundraising and volunteering capacity of community groups.
It is expected the grants writer will:
- identify and increase visibility of available grants to local small to medium businesses and community groups, including government and corporate sector opportunities;
- assist local small to medium businesses and community groups to successfully apply for funding and administer resulting grants;
- build the skills capacity of business and community groups to successfully identify and apply for grants into the future; and
- meet Key Performance Indicators to be agreed between GRC, QGC and the successful applicant.
To be eligible to apply for this funding the applicant must be:
- an incorporated organisation (sole traders or unincorporated partnerships or groups are not eligible)
- a local organisation meaning an organisation having its main office in the Gladstone Region, employing local people and providing services to the Gladstone Region.
Applications for funding may be made by eligible organisations and applications and should address the criteria, provide evidence of experience and success, and provide a detailed proposal and costings.
GRC and Shell’s QGC business will each provide up to $25,000 in seed funding – or up to $50,000 in total. The monies will fund the program, which is anticipated would operate on a part-time basis (~3 days/week) for approximately six to eight months from appointment.
