• Council proposes to renew the Silverdale Reservoir which is a critical infrastructure asset with a capacity of 2.2ML.
• The reservoir supplies potable water to 403 properties in the township of Calliope, supplying drinking water to residential, community and business assets within the Silverdale Reservoir Catchment. - Commencing

Works will include:
- Construction of a set of aluminium stairs and landings to access the top of the reservoir safely
- Strengthening the existing aluminium columns supporting the reservoir roof with a proprietary system
- Lightning protection
- Replace scour grate and overflow pipeline
- Security measures (for example fencing and locking systems)
- Measures to increase the integrity of the reservoir such as wall sealing, concrete and joint repairs
- Replace isolation and control valves and internal pipework
Planned work
Over four days, from Monday 13 May 2024, Council will be disinfecting, flushing, and filling the Silverdale Reservoir to bring it back online after recent renewal works.Council and its contractors will be working together with Gladstone Area Water Board to ensure the reservoir meets appropriate standards prior to reinstating the water supply to the Calliope catchment.
No disruptions to local residents or businesses are expected during this time.
